An Empowering, Nonjudgemental Birthing Guide
What is a Doula?
According to DONA, a doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible.
A doula:
Understands the physiology of birth and the emotional needs of the mother during this time
Will help the mother and their partner, if applicable, plan and carry out the birth plan
Will stay by the mother's side for the entirety of the labor while providing emotional and physical comfort
Will give an objective viewpoint and will help the mother obtain information needed to make a decision without feeling pressured, rushed, or forced
Facilitate communication with care providers or family members without speaking on behalf of the mother
Nurtures and protects the mother's memory of their birth experience

What I Do
Let's meet for coffee or lunch to see if I am the right doula for you!
If you decide to welcome me as your doula, a contract will be issued in order to keep us both happy and feel secure in our decision to share in this beautiful experience together.
At 32-34 weeks, we will meet in the comfort of your home for a two hour prenatal visit in order to prepare for the birth in a way that is meaningful and helpful for you. Another two hour prenatal appointment will follow at 34-36 weeks for the same purpose.
At 38 weeks, I will be on call and will be ready to meet you when you are ready in order to support you through your birth.
Once family and friends have left, I will come for a postpartum visit at 2-3 weeks in order to process the birth and extend support into this new adjustment period.
